PEAS PULAO / ONE POT MEAL


Pulao, this can be prepared when you don't have much time to cook or if you not feel like cooking. A very popular & best "one pot meal" which can be prepared in less time. Perfect one for lunch box. There are many varieties of pulao, the one I have posted here is made from green peas. This goes well with any rich gravies. I prepared broccoli gravy to accompany with this. 


Ingredients

Rice 1 Cup
Peas 1/4 Cup
Butter/Ghee/oil 2 tblsp
Cashew nut 5 to 6 Nos(Optional)
Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tsp
Onion 1/4 Cup (Sliced)
Cumin Seeds 1 tblsp
Fennel Seeds 1 tsp
Bay Leaf 1 No
Cloves 2 to 3 Nos
Cinnamon 1 stick
Green Chilly 2 Nos
Corriander Leaves 1/4 cup Chopped

Instructions
 
1) Soak basmati rice for 15 to 20 minutes.
2) In a  pan heat 2 tsp butter/ghee/oil, add cashew & saute till it turns to light brown color, then add cumin seeds and fennel seeds.
3)Once it splutters, add cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf saute it for few second and add onions, ginger garlic paste, green chillies and mix well. Saute it for 5 minutes.
4)Then add peas, corriander leaves and saute it well.Add 1 1/2 cups of water to it, add salt as per taste.Let the water to boil.
5) Add soaked rice to it and let it cook by just closing the lid.(Don't pressure cook). Check whether the rice is cooked by taking off the lid, pick one rice and press that with your thumb and index finger. Let the rice to cool, before using spatula to mix it.

6) Transfer to the bowl and serve it.


Note:
1) You can also add 1 tsp ghee and one tsp oil
