COLORFUL RAVA CAKE / SEMOLINA LADDU

This post is for Rava Cake and Laddu recipe. One of my favorite sweet. My mom taught this recipe to me, and this is the first time I tried. She use to do it as Rava Laddu but I thought of doing it in different shape and color. Here you can see the usual Rava Laddu & Colorful Rava Cake.

Here comes the recipe,

Ingredients:

 White Rav- 1 Cup
Sugar - 1 Cup ( Grind it and take it as Powder)
 Ghee  - 4 - 5 tps
 Cardamom Powder - 1 tsp
Milk - 1/2 Cup (Milk should be hot. Instead of milk, can also use Hot water or Ghee )
 Food Color - 1/4 tsp

Method:

1. In a Pan add 2 tsp of ghee and Roast Rava for 1 or 2 minutes.(It should not turn to brown color)

2. In another pan add 2 tsp of ghee & roast Cashew, Almond, Dry grapes

3. Mix 1 cup of powdered sugar with roasted Rava and Add the roasted dry nuts and fruits along with ghee into the Rava mixture. Mix it well.

4. Separate the Rava mixture into two bowls, 1/3 of the mixture in one bowl ( First)  and remaining in another bowl (Second).

5.  Add the food color in the milk then pour the milk into the First bowl and mix well till the Rava becomes soft.

6.  Pour the plain milk into the second bowl and mix well till the Rava becomes soft.

For Laddu:

7. Now from the mixture, take a little amount of Rava at a time and make it into lime-sized balls (Laddu). Press gently but firmly with lightly greased palms to ensure they have no cracks and are firm and smooth. Arrange the Laddu on a lightly greased platter as you prepare.

8.The Laddu will become firmer if left alone for approximately half an hour. They are now ready to serve or store for later. Keep in an airtight container for upto 1 week.

For Cake:

9. Take a Plastic/Steel  rectangle shaped box and grease it on all the sides of the container.

10. Pour the plain Rava mixture into the container, then pour the colored Rava mixture, again pour plain Rava mixture( Each time press the mixture gently with your fingers or spoon to level it).

11.The cake will become firmer if left alone for approximately half an hour.

12. Gently insert knife in all the sides of the container and keep the container upside down in any greased Platter and tap on the back of the container.Leave it aside for 5 more minutes.

13. Cut the cake into Square or Diamond shape and They are now ready to serve or store for later. Keep in an airtight container for upto 1 week.
